Shubman Gill breaks Kohli's record: Becomes Indian to play longest innings as captain, gets out beautifully; India's score crosses 555 runs

The Indian team has put in a strong performance on the second day of the ongoing second Test match between India and England at Birmingham. Captain Shubman Gill and Akash Deep are playing at the crease, where Gill has scored a brilliant innings of 260+ runs.

Shubman Gill has become the third Indian to score a double century (200+ runs) in England. Washington Sundar (42 runs) is bowled by Joe Root, who shared a 144-run partnership with Gill. Ravindra Jadeja (89 runs) is caught out by Josh Tong, who had shared a 203-run partnership with Gill. India started the day at 310/5, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 runs) and Chris Woakes (2 wickets) also contributing.

1. India's highest run-scoring captain – Gill surpasses Virat Kohli's record of 254 runs (Kohli scored 254 runs against SA in 2019). 2. Indian to score most runs in England – Gill breaks Sunil Gavaskar's record of 221 runs (Gavaskar set this record at The Oval in 1979).

Team India is in a strong position and now Gill will try to add more runs along with Akash Deep.
